Mental Health Spotlight: Mrs. De La Cruz, Licensed Professional Counselor

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, we'd like to highlight our very own Licensed Professional Counselor, Mrs. Bethany De La Cruz!

Mrs. De La Cruz is approved by the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board as a Licensed Professional Counselor. She received her Master of Science degree in Counseling from the University of North Texas in 2016 and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Sociology from Spring Arbor University in 2009.

Mrs. De La Cruz believes that individuals can possess within themselves an ability to determine what is best for them in each situation through God’s power and direction; this ability can be supported and grown within a safe and non-judgmental counseling relationship. She specializes in play, activity, and talk therapies to support K-12 students in individual and group counseling, through emotional self-regulation and stress management. She also provides parent consultation, consultation for faculty and staff on supporting students’ mental and emotional health, and classroom presentations on various mental and emotional health topics from a faith-based perspective.

"As a person of faith who grew up attending Christian schools, I am blessed to be a part of the mission of MCS to support holistic wellness among our students," says Mrs. De La Cruz. "I believe God cares about our mental health, just like He cares about our spiritual and physical health, and that the mental health field affirms Biblical principles of who God is, who we are in Christ, and the abundant life God desires for His children (see John 10:10). Everyone can benefit from mental health support at one time or another. If you would like to discuss what this could look like for your child, please do not hesitate to contact me!"
