Summer Literacy Program - Session 2 begins July 11

We are excited to offer a Summer Literacy Program to help our students sharpen their literacy skills over the summer! Apart from the Book Club for incoming 5th-graders, this is a remedial program that will help students with phonics, reading, language, and spelling skills. The program is open to all students enrolled for the 2022-2023 school year in preschool through 5th grade.

Session Dates:

Session 1: June 6th - 30th (4 weeks)

Session 2: July 11th - 29th (3 weeks)

Students are encouraged to participate in both sessions. However, you may sign up for just Session 1 or just Session 2.

Students entering preschool, pre-k, & kindergarten:

Circle Time | Tuesdays & Thursdays | 9:00 - 10:30 a.m.

Join us as we continue to learn and play twice a week! We will have calendar time with themed literary elements and learn a new letter each session. You will be provided with resources to learn a different letter at home. By the end of the summer, we will have covered the entire alphabet. We will also continue to provide you with some additional resources for your child to do when we are not in class. Center time will include hands-on activities that focus mainly on letter identification and sounds!

Students entering 5th grade:

Virtual Book Club | Tuesdays | 10:30 - 11:15 a.m.

A novel will be selected that students will be responsible for obtaining on their own.  Each week a “reading assignment” will be given within that novel. Students will log into Google Meet, using their school email account to discuss the novel, develop vocabulary and comprehension skills. This would be appropriate for any student within the grade level. Students will be responsible for using their own device.

The Book Club will last all 7 weeks.  A reading calendar will be sent once you have signed up to participate. If you have to miss a week due to vacation, please just continue the reading and you can catch up on the discussion once you return.
