NHS collecting items for Operation Christmas Child

Each year, Samaritan's Purse sends millions of shoeboxes around the world to share the love of Jesus in a tangible way through Operation Christmas Child. The purpose of this project is to help children by supplying them with some basic items for school, personal care, and enjoyment while sharing the Gospel.

What is Operation Christmas Child?

How does it work this year?

This year, there is a friendly competition between Bible Buddy grades! The grade that collects the most with their Bible Buddies will get an NHS-sponsored party with their Buddy grade.

NHS will be collecting for 4 weeks. Each week will have a theme:

  • WEEK 1 (9/30-10/3): Toys/Crafts/Activities: puzzles, kaleidoscope, jump rope, cards, small stuffed animals, toy cars, small balls, legos
  • WEEK 2 (10/7-10/11): Personal Care: hairbrush, toothbrush, stick deodorant, fun band-aids, solid chapstick
  • WEEK 3 (10/14-10/18): School Supplies: pencils, mini notebooks, crayons, markers
  • WEEK 4 (10/21-10/24): Clothing: shirts, pants, socks, hair accessories

Please note:

  • NOT allowed: used/damaged items, scary/war-related items, candy/gum, food/drinks, liquids/lotions, toothpaste, medications/vitamins, breakable items, aerosol cans
  • The items need to be able to fit in a shoebox.
  • Students should try to donate items for kids their own age.
  • Every Bible class has a box for donations that NHS will come collect on the last day of the week.

NHS greatly appreciates your help and support of this annual project! The children receiving these shoeboxes will experience the joy of the Christmas season through the Christ-like love of the MCS community. Thank you for your support and for praying for the children who will receive our shoeboxes.
