MCS celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Faculty Mr. Jean Gilbert and Señora Nelson opened the event with prayer and explained the importance of celebrating Dr. King's life. Señora also thanked the Unity in Diversity & Family (UDF) Team for their diligence in preparing the celebration.

Elementary School Principal Mrs. Tia Lamar shared some of Dr. King's steps to success. Mrs. Tammy Freeman was the keynote speaker and gave a personal and inspiring message about Dr. King's dream. She then encouraged everyone to dream, give their dreams to God, and let Him lead the way. The presentations shared by UDF students and Mrs. Freeman gave the audience a better understanding of Dr. King's life of sacrifice and love for Black Americans and all Americans being oppressed at that time.

All were inspired by seniors Jeremiah N. and Melat K. as they recited excerpts from Dr. King's famous speeches. Additionally, several elementary and middle school students eloquently shared some of his memorable quotes. Everyone was treated to some of Dr. King's favorite hymns sung by students Jeanelle G. and Brysun B. and accompanied by students Carmendi G., Christopher H., Bekah R., and faculty Mr. Ryan Pettit.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this beautiful chapel and all who were able to join us!
